Producers – Breakthru Films
BreakThru has established itself as a producer of quality and innovating films across
animation, live action and live events. Winner of over 20 international awards for their films,
BreakThru is best known for winning the Oscar for Peter and the Wolf. Peter and the Wolf
also won the Annecy Cristal and Audience Award at Annecy 2007, and is notable for its large
venue screenings with live orchestra: it had its world premiere at a sold out Royal Albert Hall,
sold out the Royal Festival Hall, and has had over 180 screenings with live orchestra, and is
about to open the summer season 09 for the LA Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl.
BreakThru were also Associate Producer on Annecy Cristal Feature Film winner Free Jimmy
(written by Simon Pegg, starring Woody Harelson, Jim Broadbent); VFX Producers on La Vie
En Rose (Marion Cotillard won the Oscar, the BAFTA, the Cesar and the Golden Globe for
her performance); and financiers and Animation Executive Producers for Alex: Live on Stage,
a financially and critically successful West End theatre production combining animation and
live performances, bringing the cartoon strip Alex to life (“Blissfully Funny” Sunday Times;
“technically ingenious and irresistibly funny” Daily Telegraph; “Flawless comedy” Time Out).
BreakThru has a collaborations deal with ITV and is currently producing Project Chopin, a
stereoscopic stop motion feature film celebrating the musical genius of Chopin.
Dorota Kobiela – Director & Painter
Graduate of Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw (2003), Graphics Faculty, as well as Warsaw
Film School, Direction Faculty.
Dorota was awarded the “Minister of Culture scholarship” for special achievements in painting
and graphics in 4 consequtive years, and graduated with the highest grades in her year.
She devised and directed 3 short animated films (“Love me”, “Forerun”, “Letter”) and one
short feature film “Heart in hand”, all of which have toured film festivals internationally and
been broadcast on polish television.
Dorota Kobiela has also taken key artistic positions on films such as “Switez” (Se-ma-for -
Oscar winning studio – Peter and the Wolf), “Splinter” (winner of the Best Animated Movie
Award, Wroclaw) and “Project Chopin” (from Oscar winning producers of Peter and the Wolf)
and has illustrated children books for Egmont Publishing.
Currently she works on her painting series titled “Urban Emotion” and on animated film
“Vincent”.
Artistic Team
Agata Waczawiak – graduate of Academy of fine Arts in Lodz, specializing in postproduction
and computer graphics (also previously working on Switez, Splinter and Project Chopin)
Wojtek Jakubowski – graduate of Warsaw Film School, a versatile animator who gained his
experience working on Switez, Splinter, Jez Jerzy and many commercials.
Kamil Polak – graduate of National Higher School of Film, Television and Theatre in Lodz,
director of Switez, and VFX supervisor on Oscar winning Peter and the Wolf, who combines
advanced knowledge of digital animation and artistry with an exemplary grounding in fine art.
