The Film
Peter & The Wolf, produced by BreakThru Films, is a new animated film version of Prokofiev’s classic work – and set to a special new recording by the Philharmonia Orchestra.

Prokofiev’s tale has resonated deeply with over five generations of children worldwide since its premier in 1936, with millions enchanted by its power and sense of fun. This new film reworks Prokofiev’s popular tale, giving it some 21st century twists and an environmental theme, whilst staying true to the original story.

The Production
Peter & The Wolf was 5 years and £1.4M in production, and a labour of love for all those involved. It took over 700 meetings with financiers, distributors and other people in the industry to obtain all the funding for this project, with 22 drafts and over 18 months spent on storyboarding to the music. With 85 artists bringing the puppets to life and 150 people working on the project in different ways, the production was a massive effort of faith, hard work and good luck.

Peter & The Wolf was made at the world famous Se-ma-for Studios in Poland using stop-frame model animation, top-range digital stills cameras and state-of-the-art surround sound.

Screenings & Events
The film received its world premiere at the Royal Albert Hall accompanied by a live performance by the Philharmonia Orchestra. Peter & The Wolf has had 27 Orchestral screenings worldwide, including the US premiere performed by Philadelphia Orchestra, attended by over 9,000 people, a special screening with educational events held at Warsaw Castle, a season-opener for the Hong Kong Sinfonietta, and was the finale to the closing nights at 6 international festivals.

Peter & The Wolf is still touring the world, with the live stage show scheduled for 2009.

On TV
Broadcast on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day 2006 on Channel 4, Peter & The Wolf has been bought by THIRTEEN/WNET as part of Great Performances Season in the US, who will alongside their screenings be running a nation-wide educational programme. Additionally, we are in the process of bringing the film to television screens across the world, so that children and adults alike can enjoy a wonderment and fascination for this all-time masterpiece.
