The Last Thakur has won a Grand Jury award for Best Music at the South Asian International Film Festival!
Congratulations to Kishon Khan and Birger Clausen for this much deserved recognition
A contemporary Western set in the wilds of Bangladesh, The Last Thakur is writer/director Sadik Ahmed’s follow-up to his multi-award winning short film Tanju Miah (Kodak, Grierson, RTS awards, selected for Sundance and Toronto).
Produced by BreakThru Films’ Tamsin Lyons, the film was shot over 24 days in December 2007, on High Definition cameras, a first for Bangladesh. The original set, purpose built, is the largest open air set ever built in Bangladesh.
The Last Thakur had its world premiere at the London Film Festival this October to a sold-out audience at the NFT, and has since been screened or selected at Dubai International Film Festival, Solothurn Filmtage Celebration of Swiss Film, Munich, Durban and Granada Film Festivals
