The Flying Machine tells of a magical journey taken by a young girl, Anna. Her father sells his hand-made toys and puppets in a little Warsaw shop. Anna loves the shop as much as she loves her father, but unfortunately it is not successful: there are few customers, and an accountant arrives to close it down. But worse is to come: Anna’s father has no choice but to take a job for a toy corporation in London, and he must leave the heartbroken Anna in Warsaw. Auntie George, who arrives at the flat to look after her, bringing her pale and over-protected little son, Anna’s cousin Chip-chip. Soon they find on secluded little square a delapidated old grand piano. A piano with a difference… that erupts into magical life, sprouts billowing sails and rises into the sky with Anna and Chip-chip aboard. On board, they discover a wonderful telescope through which they can see places in all over the world and also far, far away Anna’s father… They set off for a thrilling journey across Europe following the wonder and passion of Chopin’s life and music on their way to London.
